After shave paste of strawberry: For getting rid of those nasty little bumps that you get after a shave, simply mash in strawberries with sour cream to make a paste of thick consistency. You will just need to put this paste on the area that is irritated by the shaving and leave it on for about a quarter of an hour before rinsing with tepid water. Talk about effective and fragrant!
Lotion of Ammonium Lactate: Though not strictly homemade, this remedy which has ammonium lactate to the extent of about 12% is great on bumps that you get after epilation or shaving or even for keratosis pilaris, which are basically small bumps that come about for no reason at all. The best part of this remedy is that it is not only economical but also effective on really dry skin.
Tea Tree Oil: This one is supposed to be good for many things and all you need to do is rub some of that oil on the area that is affected to both moisturize and keep the bumps away. In case you already use a particular lotion, adding a few drops of this oil to that will also work once you have finished removing hair.
Baby Powder: Baby powder is formulated for the tender skin of babies so it can work very well for the small rashes that plague you after shaving or epilation. Just apply some baby powder to skin ten minutes prior to removing hair. It really works in dealing with ingrown hair too.
Coconut Oil: This in the pure form is a great antidote to many skin issues. To keep away shaving bumps and Keratosis pilaris, simply apply a lotion made of coconut oil. This one also smells good and is really good for skin when you let it soak in for a while.
Witch Hazel: Again a great thing for many skin related issues as it has a quality that cools and soothes the skin. All you need to do is apply it on skin and follow this with some lotion to make the healing qualities of witch hazel even more effective.
Some remedies from the kitchen: There are many things that can be found on the shelves of your kitchen that will make those shaving bumps disappear. Like olive oil which is great as is apple cider vinegar when it is mixed with water and applied. Yogurt is another thing that will work when you apply it and leave it on for about twenty minutes before your bath. Make a scrub with two tablespoons of brown sugar, one tablespoon of raw honey and four tablespoons of coconut oil. Apply and leave it one for a few minutes before going for a shower. This smells great and works very well too.
